Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal information we collect when you buy from this site, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to meet our obligations under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Who is responsible

What we collect

• Your name and email address — so we know who the files belong to and where to send them.
• Order details — what you bought, when, the amount, and a reference number.
• Basic download records — whether and when a file was downloaded, to help if something goes wrong.

We do not collect or store your card number, CVV or expiry date. Payment happens on Yoco's secure page and we only receive confirmation that it succeeded.

The free sample

If you request the free sample chapters, we collect your name and email address for the same purpose: to send you the file and to know who it belongs to. We also record which page or prompt on the site the request came from, so we can tell which parts of the site are useful — not to build a profile of you individually.

By requesting the sample you agree that we may email you about the book — the delivery itself, and occasional updates about it. This is the lawful basis for that processing under POPIA: you have given consent by submitting the form. We do not sell, rent or share your email address with anyone else, and we do not use it for any purpose beyond this book. You can withdraw consent and ask us to delete your details at any time by replying to any email from us or writing to hello@vitjomedia.co.za — we will stop and remove your record within 5 working days.

Why we may use it

• To deliver what you bought or requested, and to support you afterwards.
• To process a refund if you request one.
• To tell you about revisions to the product you bought or the sample you requested.
• To keep records required by tax and accounting law.

We will only send you marketing about other products if you ask for it. You can stop any email from us by replying and saying so.

Who else sees it

• Yoco — our payment processor, to take the payment.
• Our hosting provider and email provider — to run the site and send your delivery email.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.

Where it is kept and for how long

Order records are stored on our hosting provider's servers. Some of our service providers process data outside South Africa; where they do, we rely on providers that offer comparable protection. We keep order records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and delete other information when it is no longer needed.

Your rights

You may ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Email us and we will respond. If you are unhappy with how we handled it, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Cookies and analytics

This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and does not use a third-party analytics service.

We keep our own basic visit statistics: the page visited, the referring website (domain only), any campaign tag in the link, and whether the visit was on a small screen. To count visitors without identifying them, we create a short code from your IP address and browser details combined with a secret value that changes daily. That code cannot be reversed, cannot be linked to you, and cannot be matched across days. We do not store your IP address. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we record nothing at all.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address as part of that request.
